Rear Door Panel Removal/Installation (5D)

Rear Door Panel Removal/Installation

Special Tools Required
Trim pad remover, (  Snap-on A 177A
or equivalent, commercially available.)



1.Lower the glass fully.

2.Using a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape, push on the rear hook (A) and pivot the cover (B) on the front hook (C), then remove the cover and the screws securing the inner handle (D).

3.Remove the switch panel (A).

-1 Pry up on the front edge of the switch panel with a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape to release the front clip.
-2 Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hooks (B) and clip.
-3 Disconnect the power window switch connector (C).

4.Pry out the front lower edge of the grip cover (A) at a gap between the cover and the grip base (B) to release the hooks (C), pull out the cover to release the upper hooks (D) then remove it.

5.Remove the screws from the grip base.

6.Remove the door quarter inner trim (A). Take care not to scratch the door.

-1 Using a flat-trip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape, insert it next to the pin, and detach the pin by prying on the trim while holding the hock portions.
Take care not to break the hooks (B).
-2 Pull the trim forward to release the hooks.

7.Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it.

-1 Start at the bottom edge of the door panel, release the clips (B) that are just above the marks (C) on the edge of the panel with a commercially available trim pad remover (D).
-2 Detach the upper clips (E, F).
-3 Stating at the rear, pull the door panel upward, then release the lock knob (G).

8.Disconnect the inner handle cable (A). Remove the inner handle (B) by releasing the hooks (C, D).

9.If necessary, remove the door glass inner weatherstrip (A) from the door panel (B).

10.Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

  • Replace any damaged clips.
  • Make sure the connector is plugged in properly and the cable is connected securely.
  • Check the window and power door lock operations.
