DTC Troubleshooting: B1028

DTC B1028:  Rear Window Wiper Signal Error


1.Clear the DTCs using the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS.

2.Cycle the ignition switch to OFF and then back ON (II).

3.Turn the rear window wiper switch to ON.

Does the rear window wiper motor run?


YES - Go to 4.


NO - Go to 9.


4.With the rear window wiper motor running, select the TEST MODE MENU from the Honda PGM Tester or the HDS, and enter the DATA LIST.

5.Check the ON/OFF information of the RR WIPER AUTOST in the DATA LIST.

Does the information indicator ON and OFF alternately?


YES - Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box.n


NO - Go to 6.


6.Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector Q (14P).

7.Check for continuity between the No. 2 terminal of under-dash fuse/relay box connector Q (14P) and the No. 4 terminal of the rear window wiper motor 4P connector and the No. 4 terminal of the rear window wiper motor relay 5P connector.

Is there continuity?


YES - Go to 8.


NO - Repair an open in the LT GRN or LT GRN/BLK wire.n


8.Check for continuity between No. 2 terminal of the rear window wiper motor 4P connector and body ground.

Is there continuity?


YES - Faulty rear window wiper motor; replace it.n


NO - Repair an open in the BLK wire or poor ground (G702).n

9.Check the No. 20 (7.5A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.

Is the fuse OK?


YES - Go to 10.


NO - Replace the blown fuse and recheck the system.n


10.Check the rear window wiper motor relay.

Is the relay OK?


YES - Go to 11.


NO - Replace the rear window wiper motor relay.n


11.Check for voltage between the No. 1 terminal of the rear window wiper motor 4P connector and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?


YES - Go to 12.


NO - Repair an open in the YEL/GRN wire.n

12.Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector Q (14P).

13.Check for continuity between the No. 9 terminal of under-dash fuse/relay box connector Q (14P) and the No. 5 terminal of the rear window wiper motor relay.

Is there continuity?


YES - Go to 14.


NO - Repair an open in the LT BLU wire.n


14.Check for continuity between the No. 2 terminal of the rear window wiper motor relay 5P connector and body ground.

Is there continuity?


YES - Go to 15.


NO - Repair an open in the BLK wire or poor ground (G703).n

15.Check for continuity between the No. 3 terminal of the rear window wiper motor 4P connector and the No. 1 terminal of the rear window wiper motor relay 5P connector.

Is there continuity?


YES - Go to 16.


NO - Repair an open in the WHT wire.n


16.Perform the rear window wiper motor test.

Does the rear window wiper motor operate correctly?


YES - Faulty MICU, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box.n


NO - Replace the rear window wiper motor.n
