A/T Gear Position Indicator Input Test - With 7-speed Mode

For KB, KE, KG, and KQ (L15A1 engine) Models (6-position CVT+7Speed Mode)


SRS components are located in this area. Review the following articles in the SRS before performing repairs or service;

1.If the D indicator or MIL has been reported on, check for a DTC, and repair the system as indicated by DTC.

2.If the D indicator, A/T gear position indicator, and M indicator do not come on, or the shift indicator works improperly, remove the gauge assembly from the dashboard, then disconnect the gauge assembly connectors A (20P) and B (14P).

3.Inspect the connectors and connector terminals to be sure they are making good contact.

4.If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.

5.Shift to the P position, and check for continuity between gauge assembly connector terminal B14 and ground.
There should be continuity in the P position and no continuity in any other shift lever position.

6.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and shift to the R position with pressing the brake pedal. Check for voltage between connector terminal B13 and ground.
There should be 0 V in the R position, and about 5 V in any other position.

7.Shift to the N position, and check for continuity between connector terminal B12 and ground.
There should be continuity in the N position, and no continuity in any other position.

8.Shift to the D position, and check for voltage between connector terminal B9 and ground.
There should be about 5 V in the D position, and 0 V in any other position.

9.Shift to the S position, and check for voltage between connector terminal B8 and ground.
There should be 0 V in the S position, and about 5 V in any other position.

10.Shift to the L position, and check for voltage between connector terminal B10 and ground.
There should be 0 V in the L position, and about 5 V in any other position.

11.If the test results are different, check the transmission range switch and check for an open in the wires.

12.Shift to the D or S position, push the 7SPEED MODE main switch (A), and push steering shift + (plus) switch (B) or steering shift - (minus) switch (C).

13.Check for voltage between connector terminal B11 and ground.
There should be about 5 V in the 7-speed manual shifting mode, and 0 V out of the 7-speed manual shifting mode.
If the test results are different, check 7SPEED MODE main switch circuit and steering shift switch circuit.

14.Check for voltage between connector terminal A2 and ground.
There should be battery voltage with the ignition switch turned ON (II). If the voltage is 0 V, check for a blown No. 16 (7.5A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box or an open in the wire.

15.Check for continuity between connector terminal A9 and ground.
There should be continuity under all conditions. If there is no continuity, check for a poor ground (G501) or an open in the wire.

16.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

17.Connect gauge assembly connectors A (20P) and B (14P).

18.Check for LED A voltage between connector terminal B5 terminal and ground, and check for LED B voltage between terminal B4 and ground. There should be about 5 V.

19.Check for LED C voltage between terminal B3 and ground. There should be about 0.3 V.

20.If a input test prove OK, but the indicator is faulty, replace the gauge assembly.
