UNDER HOOD > GENERAL MAINTENANCE



1. GENERAL NOTES
  1. Maintenance requirements vary depending on the country.
  2. Check the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual supplement.
  3. Following the maintenance schedule is mandatory.
  4. Determine the appropriate time to service the vehicle using either miles driven or time (months) elapsed, whichever reaches the specification first.
  5. Maintain similar intervals between periodic maintenance unless noted.
  6. Failing to check each maintenance item could lead to poor engine performance and increase exhaust emissions.


2. WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID

  1. Check that there is sufficient fluid in the tank.



3. ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL

  1. Check that the coolant level is between the "FULL" and "LOW" lines on the see-through reservoir.



4. INVERTER COOLANT LEVEL

  1. Check that there is sufficient fluid in the tank.



5. RADIATOR AND HOSES

  1. Check that the front of the radiator is clean and not blocked by leaves, dirt and bugs.

  1. Check the radiator and hoses for:

    1. Damage
    2. Cracks
    3. Kinks
    4. Corrosion
    5. Rot
    6. Clogging
    7. Leaks



6. BRAKE FLUID LEVEL

  1. Check that the brake fluid level is near the upper level line on the see-through reservoirs.



7. ENGINE OIL LEVEL

  1. Check that the level of engine oil is between the full level and low level marks on the dipstick with the engine turned off.



8. HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID LEVEL

  1. Check the level of the hybrid transaxle fluid (Click here).



9. EXHAUST SYSTEM

  1. Visually inspect for severe corrosion, cracks, holes or loose supports.

    HINT:
    If any change in the sound of the exhaust or smell of the exhaust fumes is noticed, inspect and repair the exhaust system.
