ENGINE > GENERAL MAINTENANCE


HINT:
Perform these procedures after the engine has cooled down.



1. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER

  1. Check the engine oil and oil filter (Click here).



2. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT

  1. Check the engine coolant (Click here).



3. INSPECT SPARK PLUGS

  1. Check the spark plugs (Click here).



4. INSPECT BATTERY

  1. Check the battery (Click here).



5. INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the air filter.

  1. Check that the air cleaner is not excessively dirty.
    If the air cleaner is excessively dirty, replace the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly.

  1. If cleaning the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly, blow compressed air as shown in the illustration to clean it.

  1. Reinstall the air filter.



6. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS

  1. Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.



7. INSPECT FUEL TANK CAP GASKET

  1. Check the fuel tank cap gasket (Click here).



8. INSPECT FUEL LINES, CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BANDS

  1. Visually check the fuel lines and hoses for cracks, leaks, loose connections, or deformation.

  1. Check for tank band looseness or deformation.



9. INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER

  1. Check the charcoal canister (Click here).
