DESCRIPTION

The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) controls the operation of the TAIL relay.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

1.PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the power switch on (IG).

  1. Turn the intelligent tester on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Body / Main Body / Active Test.

  1. Check that the relay operates.

    Main Body 
    Tester Display
    Test Part
    Control Range
    Diagnostic Note
    Taillight Relay
    Taillight relay
    ON/OFF
    -

    OK:
    Taillight relay operates. (Taillights illuminate.)

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AUXILIARY BATTERY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY)

  1. Disconnect the 2E instrument panel junction block assembly connector (for LHD).

  1. Disconnect the 2F instrument panel junction block assembly connector (for RHD).

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Voltage:
    Tester Connection
    Switch Condition
    Specified Condition
    2E-1 - Body ground
    Power switch off
    11 to 14 V
    2F-1 - Body ground
    Power switch off
    11 to 14 V

3.INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY


  1. Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.

  1. Connect a positive (+) lead from the auxiliary battery to terminal 2E-1 (for LHD).

  1. Connect a positive (+) lead from the auxiliary battery to terminal 2F-1 (for RHD).

  1. Connect a negative (-) lead from the auxiliary battery to terminal A-14.

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Voltage:
    Tester Connection
    Switch Condition
    Specified Condition
    2C-10 - Auxiliary battery negative
    Power switch off
    11 to 14 V
    2D-18 - Auxiliary battery negative
    Power switch off
    11 to 14 V
