NOTICE:
  1. While the auxiliary battery is connected, even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or any door courtesy switch is turned on. Therefore, when servicing brake system components, do not depress the brake pedal or open/close the doors while the auxiliary battery is connected.
  2. When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake pistons, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.

HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
  2. The following procedure is for the LH side.
  3. If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
  4. The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the rear speed sensor malfunctions, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.



1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work (Click here).



2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL

  1. Wait at least 2 minutes after the power switch off.

    NOTICE:
    When the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch is turned on even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates. Therefore do not depress the brake pedal or open/close the doors until the reservoir level switch connector is disconnected.

  1. Disconnect the reservoir level switch connector with the parking brake applied.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal (Click here).

  1. Depress the brake pedal 40 times or more to return all the fluid in the accumulator back to the reservoir.

  1. Check that the brake pedal can not be further depressed.

  1. Release the parking brake.



3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL


4. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

  1. Remove the 2 screws <E>.

  1. Disengage the clip.

  1. Disengage the clamp.

  1. Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.



5. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH (for LHD)

  1. Disconnect the front door opening trim weatherstrip.

  1. Remove the residual weatherstrip sealant from the body of the vehicle using cleaner.

    NOTICE:
    Remove the sealant completely. Any residual sealant may transfer to other areas of the vehicle when removing/installing the interior parts.



6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH (for LHD)

  1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 3 claws, clip and 4 guides, and remove the instrument side panel LH.



7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)

  1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 8 claws and clip.

  1. Disconnect each connector and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly.



8. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for LHD)

  1. Completely release the parking brake pedal.

  1. Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nut to completely release the parking brake cable.

9. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

  1. Remove the screw <E>.

  1. Disengage the 2 clips.

  1. Disengage the clamp.

  1. Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.



10. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)

  1. Disengage the 2 claws to remove the No. 2 air duct sub-assembly.



11. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for RHD)

  1. Completely release the parking brake pedal.

  1. Loosen the lock nut and the adjusting nut to completely release the parking brake cable.

12. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and disengage the 2 claws to remove the rear suspension arm cover from the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.



13. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR

  1. Remove the parking brake lever protector from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.



14. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the bolt and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

  1. Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

  1. Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

    		Offset Wrench (14 mm)

    HINT:
    Insert an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly as shown in the illustration to disengage the clip. Pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.



15. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the bolt, and separate the rear flexible hose from the No. 2 flexible hose bracket.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts, and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

    NOTICE:
    Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.



16. REMOVE REAR DISC

  1. Put matchmarks on the disc and the axle hub.

  1. Remove the rear disc.



17. DISCONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE

  1. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector from the rear speed sensor.

    NOTICE:
    Be careful not to damage the rear speed sensor.



18. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly (Click here).

    HINT:
    1. The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the rear speed sensor malfunctions, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
    2. If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
