Navigation Screen
The navigation ECU calculates the present position, direction of travel, determines a route and calculates the driving distance based on the following information sources.
- Map data in the HDD*1
- DVD Map data*2, *3
- Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites
- Built-in gyro sensor
- Vehicle speed signal
- Reverse signal
- Radio Data System Traffic Message Channel (RDS-TMC) Signal*1, *3

The functions of the navigation screen are listed below.

| Address Book (Memory Point) Search | Sets a destination from the registered Address Book (Memory Point). | ||
| Emergency Search | Performs a specific search for police stations hospitals dealers, and fire stations. | ||
| Intersection Search | By specifying 2 streets, the point at which they intersect is set as the destination point. | ||
| Motorway (Highway, Freeway) Entrance or Exit Search (Models for Europe and G.C.C. Countries and Destination package for Australia) | Searches for the destination by the name of the street that connects to a motorway (highway, freeway) entrance or exit. | ||

Remote Touch
The Remote Touch consists of the switch knob and 6 switches.

The switch knob of the Remote Touch consists of the joystick and 2 motors that enable 2-axis control in longitudinal and lateral directions.
- The 2 motors generate feedback force according to screen button and icon locations, achieving a 'click' feeling during operation.

| Feedback Force | Description |
| Resistance | Feedback force, which interferes the switch knob operation, is generated in proportion to the switch knob operation speed. Resistance generated on the map screen is stronger than on other screens (MENU screen etc.). |
| Icon | Force is provided to pull the pointer toward the center of the set area (near icons). Stronger force is provided while driving. |
| Frame | Force is generated to move the pointer toward the inside of the screen when the pointer is close to the edge of the screen. |

| OPERATION |
Remote Touch
When the switch knob of the Remote Touch is operated, the pointer will be displayed on the display screen. When the pointer comes close to an icon, the cursor will appear and the icon framed by the cursor can be selected.

For the keyboard screen, keys selected by the cursor are displayed larger to enhance visibility.

The feedback force that is generated when an icon is selected, the pointer shape and the pointer size are customizable using the Remote Touch.

To inform the user that the cursor has selected a different icon or an operation is accepted, 3 types of beep sounds (selection sound, pointer sound, error sound) are provided in accordance with operation conditions. The ON/OFF setting of each beep sound is individually customizable.

When the power switch is turned to ON or ACC, the switch knob moves automatically toward the center of the movable area to detect its neutral position. At that time, if the switch knob does not move for 10 seconds or more due to load resistance of an obstacle etc., power supply to the motor will stop. If the switch knob is moved when power is not supplied to the motor due to the obstacle, neutral position detection for the switch knob will need to occur again.
When the switch knob does not move for 10 seconds or more, it is judged that the knob is not being operated. Power supply to the motor will be stopped to save power and protect the motor. When the switch knob is operated again, power supply to the motor starts immediately and feedback force is generated.

Overheating Protection for Remote Touch Motor
When overheating is judged, motor output will be stopped.
When a short is detected, motor output will be stopped. (The motor will remain stopped until the power switch is turned off.)
When an abnormal power source voltage (20 V or higher) is detected, motor output will be stopped. (The motor will operate as soon as the voltage returns to normal.)
