DESCRIPTION

This circuit provides power to the headlight cleaner control relay.
The headlight cleaner control relay sends the signal to operate from the switch, etc., to the headlight cleaner motor and pump assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (HEADLIGHT CLEANER CONTROL RELAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

  1. Disconnect the A5 relay connector.

  1. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A5-1 (IG) - A5-6 (E)
    		Engine switch off
    		Below 1 V
    A5-1 (IG) - A5-6 (E)
    		Engine switch on (IG)
    		10 to 14 V
    A5-4 (PB) - A5-6 (E)
    		Always
    		10 to 14 V



NG
Go to step 2
OK

PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

2.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (HEADLIGHT CLEANER CONTROL RELAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

  1. Disconnect the A5 relay connector.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A5-6 (E) - Body ground
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

3.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (HEADLIGHT CLEANER CONTROL RELAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

  1. Disconnect the A5 relay connector.

  1. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A5-4 (PB) - Body ground
    		Always
    		10 to 14 V

OK

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH CIRCUIT) 

4.INSPECT HEADLIGHT CLEANER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY


    E106817

  1. Disconnect the connector from the headlight cleaner motor and pump assembly.

  1. Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 of the headlight cleaner motor and pump assembly, and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 2.

    OK:
    Operation sounds are heard.
