1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.



2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER

  1. Remove the 2 nuts and V-bank cover.



3. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Exhaust Side)

  1. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.

  1. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.

  1. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.



4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 1 Intake Side)

  1. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.

  1. Remove the bolt and V-bank cover bracket.

  1. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.

  1. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.



5. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

  1. Remove the 7 clips and duct seal.



6. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips.

  1. Remove the 10 screws and under cover.



7. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

CAUTION:
Do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.

  1. Remove the radiator cap and reservoir cap.



  1. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug and 2 cylinder block drain cock plugs. Then drain the coolant.

    HINT:
    Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.

8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH

  1. Loosen the nut and remove the 2 clips and side cover.



9. REMOVE NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE

  1. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the cylinder head.



10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE

  1. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.

  1. Disconnect the clamp from the air cleaner.

  1. Disconnect the VSV (for EVAP).

  1. Disconnect the 4 clamps.

  1. Remove the hose clamp and air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose.



11. DISCONNECT WATER BY-PASS HOSE

  1. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body.



12. DISCONNECT HEATER WATER INLET HOSE

  1. Disconnect the hose from the water hose joint.



13. REMOVE ENGINE REAR COVER

  1. Remove the 3 clips and engine rear cover.



14. DISCONNECT UNION TO CHECK VALVE HOSE

  1. Disconnect the hose from the surge tank.



15. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE

  1. Disconnect the ventilation hose from the ventilation valve.



16. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK

  1. Disconnect the throttle motor connector.

  1. Disconnect the IACV connector.

  1. Disconnect the wire harness clamp from the surge tank.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and intake manifold stay.

  1. Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps from the surge tank stays.

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 surge tank stays.

  1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the water hose joint.

  1. Using a 5 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the 7 bolts, 2 nuts and gasket.

    HINT:
    Cover the intake manifold port to prevent foreign matter from entering it.



17. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Intake Side)

  1. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.

  1. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.

  1. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.



18. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (for Bank 2 Exhaust Side)

  1. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.

  1. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.

  1. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.
