DESCRIPTION

The AFS ECU receives signals regarding the height of the front/rear of the vehicle from the height control sensor.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the intelligent tester main switch on.

  1. Select the items below in the Data List, and read the displays on the intelligent tester.

    AFS ECU:

2.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR CIRCUIT)

  1. Disconnect the A21 height control sensor connector.

  1. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A21-1(SHG) - A21-3(SHB)
    		Engine switch on (IG)
    		4.5 to 5.5 V



NG
Go to step 8
OK

3.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR CIRCUIT)

  1. Disconnect the o2 height control sensor connector.

  1. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    o2-1(SHG) - o2-3(SHB)
    		Engine switch on (IG)
    		4.5 to 5.5 V



NG

4.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (AFS ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR FRONT)

  1. Disconnect the A21 height control sensor connector.

  1. Disconnect the A30 AFS ECU connector.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A30-2 (SHFL) - A21-2 (SHFL)
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω
    A30-2 (SHFL) - Body ground
    		Always
    		10 kΩ or higher

5.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (AFS ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR REAR)

  1. Disconnect the o2 sensor connector.

  1. Disconnect the A31 AFS ECU connector.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    A31-9 (SHRL) - o2-2 (SHFL)
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω
    A31-9 (SHRL) - Body ground
    		Always
    		10 kΩ or higher

6.INSPECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (FRONT LH)

  1. Connect the 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.

  1. Remove the height control sensor assembly front.

  1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 3.

  1. Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    2 (SHFL) - 1 (SHG)
    		+45°
    		Approx. 4.5 V
    2 (SHFL) - 1 (SHG)
    		0° (Normal)
    		Approx. 2.5 V
    2 (SHFL) - 1 (SHG)
    		-45° (Low)
    		Approx. 0.5 V

7.INSPECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (REAR LH)

  1. Connect the 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.

  1. Remove the height control sensor assembly rear.

  1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 3.

  1. Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    2 (SHFL) - 1 (SHG)
    		+45°
    		Approx. 4.5 V
    2 (SHFL) - 1 (SHG)
    		0° (Normal)
