1. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE NO.3 CABLE ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the 2 cable support brackets to the parking brake No.3 cable assembly.

  1. Install the parking brake No.3 cable assembly to the parking brake plate with the 2 nuts.

    Torque:
    8.0 N*m{ 82 kgf*cm , 71 in.*lbf }

  1. Connect the parking brake No.3 cable assembly to the parking brake equalizer.



  1. Install the parking brake No.3 cable assembly to the body with the 3 bolts and 2 clamps.

    Torque:
    Bolt A:
    6.0 N*m{ 61 kgf*cm , 53 in.*lbf }
    Bolt B:
    19 N*m{ 194 kgf*cm , 14 ft.*lbf }

2. APPLY HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE
  1. Apply a thin layer of high temperature grease to the area where the parking brake plate contacts the parking brake shoe (Click here).



3. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER

  1. Apply a thin layer of high temperature grease to the area where the parking brake shoe lever contacts the parking brake anchor block.

  1. Install the parking brake shoe lever to the parking brake cable assembly.

    NOTICE:
    Take care to install the correct parking brake shoe lever because the direction of the pin is different between left and right.



4. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE NO.2 SHOE ASSEMBLY

  1. Using SST, install the parking brake No.2 shoe assembly with the shoe hold down spring No.1 cup, compression No.1 spring and shoe hold down spring No.1 pin.

    HINT:
    Use the service hole to retain the shoe hold down spring No.1 pin with your finger.



5. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE NO.1 SHOE ASSEMBLY

  1. Using SST, install the parking brake No.1 shoe assembly with the shoe hold down spring No.1 cup, compression No.1 spring and shoe hold down spring No.1 pin.

6. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET

  1. Apply high temperature grease to the thread and all joining areas of the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.

7. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN NO.1 SPRING

8. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN NO.2 SPRING

9. CHECK PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION


  1. Make sure that all the parts are installed properly.
    If necessary, reinstall properly.

10. INSTALL REAR DISC
  1. Align the matchmarks on the rear disc and rear axle hub.



11. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE
  1. Temporarily install the hub nuts.

  1. Remove the shoe adjusting hole plug.

  1. Turn the shoe adjuster and expand the shoe until the disc locks.

  1. Turn and contract the shoe adjuster until the disc can rotate smoothly.

    Standard:
    Return 7 notches

  1. Check that there is no brake drag against the shoe.

  1. Install the shoe adjusting hole plug.

  1. Remove the hub nuts.



12. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 new caliper No.1 plates.

    Torque:
    54 N*m{ 550 kgf*cm , 40 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    1. Do not twist the brake hose.
    2. Make sure that the bolts are free from damage and foreign matter.
    3. Do not overtighten the bolts.



13. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque:
103 N*m{ 1,050 kgf*cm , 76 ft.*lbf }



14. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT NO.2 PROTECTOR

  1. Install the differential support protector No.2 to the rear suspension member brace with the 2 nuts.

    Torque:
    5.4 N*m{ 55 kgf*cm , 48 in.*lbf }



15. INSTALL REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 3GR-FSE)

  1. Remove the SST from the transmission.

  1. Insert the yoke of the intermediate shaft into the transmission.

    HINT:
    Be careful not to damage the oil seal.

  1. Align the matchmarks on the propeller shaft flange and differential companion flange, and connect the shaft with the 4 bolts, washers and nuts.

  1. Adjust the dimension between the edge surface of the center support bearing and the edge surface of the cushion to 11.5 to 13.5 mm (0.4528 to 0.5315 in.) respectively as shown in illustration.

16. INSPECT AND ADJUST NO. 2 AND NO. 3 JOINT ANGLE (for 3GR-FSE)
  1. Stabilize the propeller shaft and differential.

    1. Turn the propeller shaft several times by hand to stabilize the center support bearing.



  1. Check the No.2 and No.3 joint angles.

    1. Using SST, measure the installation angle of the intermediate shaft and propeller shaft.

      The SST should be set directly underneath the shaft.

    2. Using SST, measure the installation angle of the differential.

      Measure the installation angle by placing the SST in the position shown in the illustration.

    3. Calculate the No.2 joint angle.

      A - B = -1°36' to -0°36'

      A:
      Intermediate shaft installation angle

    4. Calculate the No.3 joint angle.

      No.3 joint angle:
      B - C = 1°09' to 2°09'

      Propeller shaft installation angle

  1. Install the heat insulator No.1 with the 4 nuts and grommet.

    Torque:
    5.4 N*m{ 55 kgf*cm , 48 in.*lbf }



18. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 3GR-FSE)

  1. Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression spring.

    Minimum length:
    38.5 mm (1.516 in.)

    If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.

  1. Install a new gasket to the rear side of the front exhaust pipe.

    HINT:
    Using a plastic-faced hammer, uniformly strike the gasket so that the gasket and front exhaust pipe are properly fit.

    NOTICE:
    1. Be careful with the installation direction of the gasket.
    1. Do not reuse the gasket.
    1. To ensure a proper seal, do not use the tailpipe to force the gasket onto the front exhaust pipe.

    NOTICE:
    Do not reuse the gaskets.

  1. Install the front exhaust pipe to the tailpipe with the 2 compression springs and 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    43 N*m{ 438 kgf*cm , 32 ft.*lbf }



19. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 3GR-FSE)
  1. Install the 2 sensors (Click here).



20. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER (for 3GR-FSE)

41. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY

  1. Connect the connectors under the seat.

  1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

  1. Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the foremost position.

  1. Tighten the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seat.

    Torque:
    36.8 N*m{ 375 kgf*cm , 27 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    Tighten the 2 bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.

  1. Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the rearmost position.

  1. Tighten the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seat.

    Torque:
    36.8 N*m{ 375 kgf*cm , 27 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    Tighten the 2 bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.



42. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY

  1. Move the seat using the power seat switch knob so that the seat belt anchor bolt is revealed.

  1. Install the front seat outer belt anchor with the bolt.

    Torque:
    42 N*m{ 428 kgf*cm , 31 ft.*lbf }

  1. Install the seat belt anchor cover cap.

  1. Install the front seat belt hole cover.



43. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL


44. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
  1. Fully depress the parking brake pedal and release it to engage the parking brake.

  1. Depress the pedal to the floor again, and release it to disengage the parking brake.

  1. Slowly depress the parking brake pedal to the floor, and count the number of clicks.

    Parking brake pedal travel:
    7 to 9 notches at 300N (31kgf, 67.5lbf)



45. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
  1. Depress the parking brake pedal. Hold the wire adjusting No.1 nut using a wrench and loosen the lock nut.

  1. Release the parking brake pedal.

  1. Turn the wire adjusting No.1 nut until the parking brake pedal travel meets the above specification.

  1. Hold the wire adjusting No.1 nut using a wrench or equivalent tool and tighten the lock nut.

    Torque:
    6.0 N*m{ 61 kgf*cm , 53 in.*lbf }

  1. Count the number of clicks after depressing and releasing the parking brake pedal 3 or 4 times.

  1. Check whether the parking brake drags or not.

  1. When operating the parking brake pedal, check that the parking brake indicator light comes on.

47. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT


48. INSPECT FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY
  1. Check the power seat operation.

  1. Check the seat heater operation (with seat heater).

    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Turn the seat heater switch ON.

    3. Wait 5 minutes or more and confirm that the seat surface becomes warm.
