1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.



2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips.

  1. Remove the 10 screws and under cover.



3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 7 clips and duct seal.



4. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET

  1. Remove the bolt and inlet.



5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 2 nuts and cover.



6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

CAUTION:
Do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.

  1. Remove the radiator cap and reservoir cap.



  1. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug and 2 cylinder block drain cock plugs. Then drain the coolant.

    HINT:
    Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.

7. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT

  1. While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, and remove the V-ribbed belt from the belt tensioner.

  1. While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, align with its holes, and then insert the 5 mm bi-hexagon wrench into the holes to fix the belt tensioner.



8. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY

  1. Using SST, hold the water pump pulley.

    SST
    09960-10010   (09962-01000, 09963-00700)

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and water pump pulley.



9. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE COVER

  1. Remove the 3 nuts and cover.



10. REMOVE WATER INLET ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the 2 radiator hoses.

  1. Disconnect the 5 hoses.

  1. Remove the 4 bolts, nut and water inlet.

  1. Remove the water inlet housing gasket and water outlet pipe's O-ring.



11. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the bolt, cover plate and idler pulley.



12. REMOVE TENSIONER PULLEY

  1. Remove the bolt, cover plate and tensioner pulley (marking: L).

    NOTICE:
    Do not turn the bolt "L" counterclockwise.



13. REMOVE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 16 bolts, water pump and gasket.
