1. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ANCHOR BLOCK

  1. Install the parking brake anchor block with 2 nuts.

    Torque:
    76 N*m{ 775 kgf*cm , 56 ft.*lbf }

  1. Install the rear axle hub and bearing assembly (Click here).



2. APPLY HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE
  1. Apply a thin layer of high temperature grease to the area where the parking brake plate contacts the parking brake shoe (Click here).



3. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER

  1. Apply a thin layer of high temperature grease to the area where the parking brake shoe lever contacts the parking brake anchor block.

  1. Install the parking brake shoe lever to the parking brake cable assembly.

    NOTICE:
    Take care to install the correct parking brake shoe lever because the direction of the pin is different between left and right.



4. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE NO.2 SHOE ASSEMBLY

  1. Using SST, install the parking brake No.2 shoe assembly with the shoe hold down spring No.1 cup, compression No.1 spring and shoe hold down spring No.1 pin.

    HINT:
    Use the service hole to retain the shoe hold down spring No.1 pin with your finger.



5. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE NO.1 SHOE ASSEMBLY

  1. Using SST, install the parking brake No.1 shoe assembly with the shoe hold down spring No.1 cup, compression No.1 spring and shoe hold down spring No.1 pin.

6. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET

  1. Apply high temperature grease to the thread and all joining areas of the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.

  1. Install the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set.



7. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN NO.1 SPRING

  1. Install the parking brake shoe return No.1 spring.



8. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN NO.2 SPRING

  1. Install the parking brake shoe return No.2 spring.



9. CHECK PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION


  1. Make sure that all the parts are installed properly.
    If necessary, reinstall properly.

10. INSTALL REAR DISC
  1. Align the matchmarks on the rear disc and rear axle hub.



11. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE
  1. Temporarily install the hub nuts.

  1. Remove the shoe adjusting hole plug.

  1. Turn the shoe adjuster and expand the shoe until the disc locks.

  1. Turn and contract the shoe adjuster until the disc can rotate smoothly.

    Standard:
    Return 7 notches

  1. Check that there is no brake drag against the shoe.

  1. Install the shoe adjusting hole plug.

  1. Remove the hub nuts.



12. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 new caliper No.1 plates.

    Torque:
    54 N*m{ 550 kgf*cm , 40 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    1. Do not twist the brake hose.
    2. Make sure that the bolts are free from damage and foreign matter.
    3. Do not overtighten the bolts.



13. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque:
103 N*m{ 1,050 kgf*cm , 76 ft.*lbf }



14. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
  1. Fully depress the parking brake pedal and release it to engage the parking brake.

  1. Depress the pedal to the floor again, and release it to disengage the parking brake.

  1. Slowly depress the parking brake pedal to the floor, and count the number of clicks.

    Parking brake pedal travel:
    7 to 9 notches at 300N (31kgf, 67.5lbf)



15. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
  1. Depress the parking brake pedal. Hold the wire adjusting No.1 nut using a wrench and loosen the lock nut.

  1. Release the parking brake pedal.

  1. Turn the wire adjusting No.1 nut until the parking brake pedal travel meets the above specification.

  1. Hold the wire adjusting No.1 nut using a wrench or equivalent tool and tighten the lock nut.

    Torque:
    6.0 N*m{ 61 kgf*cm , 53 in.*lbf }

  1. Count the number of clicks after depressing and releasing the parking brake pedal 3 or 4 times.

  1. Check whether the parking brake drags or not.

  1. When operating the parking brake pedal, check that the parking brake indicator light comes on.
