DESCRIPTION

  1. The engine hood courtesy switch is built into the hood lock. This switch turns on when the engine hood is opened and turns off when the engine hood is closed.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.READ DATA LIST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH)
  1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the engine hood courtesy switch.

    Engine room No. 2 relay block, junction block (front controller):

    ON: Engine hood is open

Go to step 2

REPLACE ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 RELAY BLOCK, JUNCTION BLOCK (FRONT CONTROLLER) 

2.INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH

  1. Remove the courtesy switch from the hood lock.

  1. Measure the resistance of the switch.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Condition
    Specified Condition
    1 - 2
    Pushed (ON)
    Below 1 Ω
    1 - 2
    Not pushed (OFF)
    10 kΩ or higher

REPLACE ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH
OK


3.CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 RELAY BLOCK, JUNCTION BLOCK - ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH AND BODY GROUND)

  1. Disconnect the 2G junction block connector.

  1. Disconnect the B7 switch connector.

  1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    2G-3 - B7-2
    Below 1 Ω
    B7-1 - Body ground
    Below 1 Ω
    2G-3 or B7-2 - Body ground
    10 kΩ or higher

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK
