DESCRIPTION

  1. The steering angle sensor detects the amount and direction of steering wheel movement and inputs these details to the absorber control ECU via CAN communication.
  2. The fail-safe function prohibits roll posture control if any malfunction occurs in the steering angle sensor circuit (Click here).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
  1. Check the condition of each related circuit connector before troubleshooting (Click here).
  2. When C1774 is output, inspect and repair the trouble areas indicated by C1774 first (Click here).

1.CHECK DTC

  1. Clear the DTC (Click here).

  1. Turn the engine switch off.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) again and check that no CAN communication system DTC is output.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Drive the vehicle and turn the steering wheel to the right and left at the speed of 35 km/h (24 mph) to check that a DTC is output (Click here and Click here).

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INPUT VOLTAGE)

  1. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    L19-1 (IG) -
    L19-2 (ESS)
    		Engine switch on (IG)
    		10 to 14 V

  1. Turn the engine switch off.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    		Specified Condition
    L19-2 (ESS) - Body ground
    		Below 1 Ω
