| POWER WINDOW CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION |
The power window control system controls the power window's UP/DOWN function using the regulator motors. The main components of this system are: 1) the multiplex network master switch assembly (built into the driver side door); 2) and the multiplex network switches (built into the front passenger side door, and rear doors. Pressing each door's switch transmits an UP/DOWN signal to its respective power window regulator motor. Pressing the master switch's passenger door power window switch or either rear door power window switch transmits a remote UP/DOWN signal through the BEAN line to the corresponding door ECU. Then the door ECU transmits the signal through the multiplex network switch to the door's power window regulator motor.
| FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT |
| Component | Outline |
| Multiplex Network Master Switch Assembly | Controls power window operation for all windows When lock switch is set to lock position, window operation will be possible only for driver power window Also uses two hall-ICs in the regulator motor to detect window position and jamming |
| Multiplex Network Switch Assembly | Located on front passenger side door and rear doors Each switch controls window operation for its respective window Also uses two hall-ICs in the regulator motor to detect window position and jamming |
| Power Window Regulator Motor Assembly | Receives switch signals and changes signals into motor activation As a result, window position changes |
| SYSTEM FUNCTION |
The power window control system has the following functions:
| Function | Outline |
| Multiplex Network Master Switch Assembly | Function that raises window while multiplex network (master) switch is pulled halfway up and lowers window while switch is pushed halfway down Window stops as soon as switch is released |
| AUTO UP/DOWN function | Function that enables window to be fully opened or fully closed by one full push or pull of multiplex network master switch |
| Jam protection function | Function that automatically stops power window and moves it downward if object is jammed in power window During key-off operation, jam protection function works for AUTO UP and even for manual UP operation |
| Remote control function | Function that allows multiplex network master switch to control manual and AUTO UP and DOWN operations of front passenger side window and rear windows |
| Key-off operation function | Function that makes it possible to operate power window for approximately 43 seconds after engine switch is turned on (ACC) or off and driver side door is not opened |
| Window lock function | Function where front passenger side power window and rear door power window's operations are disabled when window lock switch on power window master switch is pressed |
| Diagnosis | Function where power window switch detects malfunctions in power window system and make diagnosis Power window switch light starts blinking to inform driver of malfunction |
| Fail-safe | If pulse sensor(s) (Hall IC(s)) in power window regulator motor malfunctions, power window AUTO UP and DOWN function is disabled, but remote control function is active as long as micro computer built-in multiplex network master switch operates normally |
| Key-linked open and close | When key is within range of key detection area for driver side door, driver side door is locked, and mechanical key inserted into driver side door key cylinder is turned and maintained in lock position for 1.5 seconds or more, multiplex network master switch activates power window regulator motors to open power windows while key is turned Similarly, when driver side door is unlocked, turning and maintaining driver side door key in lock position for 1.5 seconds or more will cause power windows to be closed |
| Wireless transmitter-linked open and close* | When multiplex network body ECU (cowl side junction block ECU RH) receives unlock signal from key continuously for 2.5 seconds or more, multiplex network body ECU (cowl side junction block ECU RH) transmits power window control signal to multiplex network (master) switches Upon receiving control signal, switches control power windows Similarly, multiplex network body ECU (cowl side junction block ECU RH) receives lock signal from key, multiplex network (master) switches control regulator motors to close power windows |
| Entry lock button-linked close* | When certification ECU receives lock signal from lock switch on driver side door outer handle continuously for more than 3.0 seconds, certification ECU transmits power window control signal to multiplex network master switch Upon receiving control signal, multiplex network master switch controls power window regulator motors in accordance with signal to close power windows |
