1. INSPECT INJECTOR RESISTANCE

  1. Measure the resistance between the injector terminals.

    Standard resistance:
    11.6 to 12.4 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

    If the result is not as specified, replace the injector.



2. INSPECT INJECTION VOLUME AND FOR LEAKAGE

CAUTION:
This test involves high-pressure fuel and electricity. Take every precaution regarding safe handling of both the fuel and the electricity. Perform this test in a safe area, and avoid any sparks or flames. Do not smoke.

  1. Install the fuel tube connector to SST (hose), then connect the tube connector to the fuel pipe (vehicle side).

  1. Install the O-ring to the fuel injector.

  1. Connect SST (adapter and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with SST (clamp).

  1. Put the injector into the graduated cylinder.

    CAUTION:
    Install a suitable vinyl tube onto the injector to contain gasoline spray.

  1. Operate the fuel pump.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      NOTICE:
      Do not start the engine.

    3. Push the intelligent tester main switch ON.

    4. Select the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the Fuel Pump /Speed.

  1. Connect SST (wire) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

    Injection volume:
    71 to 86 cm3 (4.3 to 5.2 cu.in.) in 15 seconds

    Difference between each injector:
    15 cm3 (0.9 cu.in.) or less

    If injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.

  1. Check for leakage.

    1. When operating the fuel pump, disconnect the SST (wire) tester probes from the battery and check the fuel leakage from the injector.

      Fuel leakage:
      1 drop or less in 27 minutes
