1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL


2. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the front seat belt hole cover.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Apply protective tape around the seat belt anchor cover cap to the cushion shield.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and remove the seat belt anchor cover cap.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Move the seat using the power seat switch knob so that the seat belt anchor bolt is revealed.

  1. Remove the bolt and front seat outer belt anchor.



3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY

  1. Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the rearmost position.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the seat track bracket cover front inner and outer.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts on the front side of the seat.

  1. Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the foremost position.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the seat track bracket cover rear inner and outer.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seat.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

    CAUTION:
    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

  1. Disconnect the connectors under the seat. Then remove the seat.



4. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

  1. Detach the seat cushion's 2 front hooks from the vehicle body.

    NOTICE:
    Follow the instructions below carefully as the cushion frame deforms easily.


    1. Choose a hook to detach first. Place your hands near the hook as shown in the illustration. Then lift the seat cushion to detach the hook.

    2. Repeat for the other hook.

  1. Detach the seat cushion's 2 rear hooks from the seatback.

  1. Remove the seat cushion.



5. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR

  1. Remove the 2 plugs, 2 screws and air duct rear.



6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.



7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.



8. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.



9. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER

HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.



10. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH FRONT

  1. Using a clip remover, detach the claws and remove the garnish.

    HINT:
    Tape the clip remover tip before use.



11. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY

  1. Twist the shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 9 clips.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Remove the ash receptacle and then disconnect the connector.



12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH RH PANEL END

  1. Remove the screw.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 clips and 3 claws.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Remove the finish panel end.



13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LH PANEL END

  1. Remove the screw.

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 clips and 3 claws.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Remove the finish panel end.



14. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX PLATE

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Remove the console box plate and then disconnect the connector.



15. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.



16. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 screws.

  1. Remove the console box and then disconnect the connector.



17. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and 4 clips, and remove the side panel.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.



18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER NO.1 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Detach the 2 claws.

  1. Remove the under cover and then disconnect the connector.



19. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY NO.1 PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Using a screwdriver, detach the 8 clips and claw.

    HINT:
    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  1. Remove the hood lock control cable from the safety pad.

  1. Remove the safety pad.



20. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and driver side knee airbag assembly.

  1. Disconnect the connector.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.



21. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL


22. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR SILENCER PAD


23. REMOVE DASH PANEL INSULATOR NO.2 PAD


24. REMOVE AIR NO.1 DUCT REAR


25. REMOVE AIR NO.1 DUCT

  1. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the air No.1 duct.



26. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER (for 3GR-FSE)

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and floor brace.



27. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 3GR-FSE)

  1. Remove the 2 sensors from the front exhaust pipe (Click here).



28. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 3GR-FSE)

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 nuts.

  1. Disconnect the exhaust pipe front ends from the exhaust manifold and remove the 2 gaskets.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs, exhaust pipe and gasket.



29. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT NO.1 INSULATOR (for 3GR-FSE)

  1. Remove the 4 nuts, grommet and front floor heat insulator No.1.



30. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 3GR-FSE)

  1. Put matchmarks on both flanges.

  1. Remove the 4 nuts, bolts and washers.

    HINT:
    If the flange connection is hard to separate, temporarily tighten one nut only and evenly tap the flange with a brass bar and hammer to separate the propeller shaft assembly from the differential companion flange.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 center support bearing washers and center support bearing.

  1. Insert SST in the transmission to prevent oil leakage.

    Be careful not to damage the oil seal.



31. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER (for 3GR-FE)

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and floor brace.



32. DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for 3GR-FE)

  1. Remove the 2 sensors from the front exhaust pipe (Click here).



33. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 3GR-FE)

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 nuts.

  1. Disconnect the exhaust pipe front ends from the exhaust manifold and remove the 2 gaskets.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs, exhaust pipe and gasket.



34. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT NO.1 INSULATOR (for 3GR-FE)

  1. Remove the 4 nuts, grommet and front floor heat insulator No.1.



35. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 3GR-FE)

  1. Put matchmarks on both flanges.

  1. Remove the 4 nuts, bolts and washers.

    HINT:
    If the flange connection is hard to separate, temporarily tighten one nut only and evenly tap the flange with a brass bar and hammer to separate the propeller shaft assembly from the differential companion flange.

38. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 3UZ-FE)

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 nuts.

  1. Disconnect the exhaust pipe front ends from the 2 TWCs and remove the 2 gaskets.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs, exhaust pipe and gasket.



39. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT NO.1 INSULATOR (for 3UZ-FE)

  1. Remove the 4 nuts and front floor heat insulator No.1.



40. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 3UZ-FE)

  1. Using SST, loosen the adjusting nut until it can be turned by hand.

    HINT:
    Use 2 same type of SST.

  1. Put matchmarks on the transmission companion flange, flexible coupling and intermediate shaft.

  1. Remove the 3 bolts, 3 washers and 3 nuts.

    NOTICE:
    The propeller shaft and flexible coupling should not be separated.

  1. Put matchmarks on the differential companion flange, flexible coupling and propeller shaft.

  1. Remove the 3 bolts, 3 washers and 3 nuts.

    NOTICE:
    The propeller shaft and flexible coupling should not be separated.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 center support bearing washers.

    HINT:
    Some vehicles are not equipped with the center support bearing washers.

  1. Push the rear propeller shaft straight forward to compress the propeller shaft and pull out the propeller shaft from the centering pin of the differential.

    NOTICE:
    Press the propeller shaft straight ahead to keep the transmission and intermediate shaft aligned straight.

    HINT:
    If it is difficult to separate the flange from the flexible coupling, pry it using a screwdriver.

  1. Pull the propeller shaft outward from the vehicle's rear.

    NOTICE:
    The intermediate shaft and propeller shaft should not be separated.



41. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


42. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR REAR UPPER SUB PANEL

  1. Turn back the floor carpet in order to remove the front floor rear upper sub panel.

  1. Disengage the 6 clamps and remove the 4 bolts and front floor rear upper sub panel.



43. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL

  1. Using needle-nose pliers, remove the parking brake return with damper spring.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the parking brake No.2 and No.3 cable assemblies from the parking brake equalizer.

  1. Slide the rubber boot as shown in the illustration.

  1. Remove the parking brake equalizer from the parking brake No.1 cable assembly.



  1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts, and separate the parking brake No.1 cable assembly from the body.

  1. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts and parking brake pedal from the body.
