DESCRIPTION


INSPECTION PROCEDURE

This circuit detects the manual cut off switch status.
The passenger airbag OFF indicator comes on to inform the passengers of the front passenger airbag assembly status (activated or deactivated).

HINT:
Check that the passenger airbag OFF indicator operates normally according to the airbag cut off switch cylinder position.

1.CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG), and check the SRS warning light condition.

    HINT:
    If this trouble occurs, the SRS warning light is off. If it is on, a DTC is output. Troubleshoot for the output DTC.

    OK:
    The SRS warning light does not come on.

2.CHECK PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF INDICATION CONDITION

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

  1. Check if the passenger airbag OFF indicator correctly indicates the airbag cut off switch cylinder condition.

    OK:

    Manual cut off switch
    		Passenger airbag OFF indicator
    ON position
    		OFF
    OFF position
    		ON

3.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

  1. Turn the engine switch off.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the airbag cut off switch cylinder.

OK:
The connectors are connected.

4.CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (OPEN)

  1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the airbag cut off switch cylinder.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Resistance:
    Tester connection
    		Condition
    		Specified condition
    L59-2 (PMC+) -
    L59-1 (PMC-)
    		Always
    		Below 1 Ω

5.CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (SHORT)

  1. Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector "B".

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Resistance:
    Tester connection
    		Condition
    		Specified condition
    L59-2 (PMC+) -
    L59-1 (PMC-)
    		Always
    		1 MΩ or higher

6.CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND)

7.CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (SHORT TO B+)

  1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Resistance:
    Tester connection
    		Condition
    		Specified condition
    L59-2 (PMC+) -
    Body ground
    		Engine switch on (IG)
    		Below 1 V
    L59-1 (PMC-) -
    Body ground
    		Engine switch on (IG)
    		Below 1 V

8.CHECK AIRBAG CUT OFF SWITCH CYLINDER

  1. Turn the engine switch off.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Resistance:
    Tester connection
    		Manual cut off switch condition
    		Specified condition
    L59-2 (PMC+) -
    L59-1 (PMC-)
    		Cut off switch is in ON position (Front passenger side airbag is active)
    		360 to 440 Ω
    L59-2 (PMC+) -
    L59-1 (PMC-)
    		Cut off switch is in OFF position (Front passenger side airbag is not active)
    		90 to 110 Ω
