AFS OFF Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The AFS OFF switch uses the multiplex communication system. First make sure that the multiplex communication system is functioning normally before performing troubleshooting on the AFS OFF switch.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Refer to how to proceed with troubleshooting (Click here).
If the multiplex communication system is operating normally, proceed to the next step.

NEXT

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER

1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

3. Turn the intelligent tester main switch on.

4. Select the item(s) in the ACTIVE TEST, and check the operation.

   ACTIVE TEST: METER 

   Item	Test Details	Diagnostic Note
   AFS Indicator	AFS OFF indicator light OFF / ON	-

   OK:

   AFS OFF indicator comes on.
   

NG	GO TO COMBINATION METER SYSTEM

OK

3. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER

1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

3. Turn the intelligent tester main switch on.

4. Select the item below in the DATA LIST, and read its value displayed on the intelligent tester.

   DATA LIST: AFS ECU

OK	REPLACE AFS ECU

NG

4. PERFORM SATELLITE SWITCH

1. Check operation speed and tach indicator system.

   OK:

   Tach indicator system operates normally.
   

NG	GO TO COMBINATION METER SYSTEM

OK
PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
