4. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY

6. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

10. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2)

13. INSTALL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
  1. Place the engine on an engine lifter.

    Place the engine on wooden blocks or an equivalent so that the engine is level.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 engine hangers.

  1. Operate the engine lifter, then install the engine to the vehicle.

The intake air connector pipe and throttle body can be tightened within the range of 4.0 N*m (41 kgf*cm. 35 in.*lbf) to 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm. 49 in.*lbf), and the intake air connector pipe and air cleaner assembly can be tightened within the range of 2.0 N*m (20 kgf*cm. 18 in.*lbf) to 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm. 49 in.*lbf).
    2. When tightening the hose clamp, make sure the hose clamp's end is within the painted white line (width: 2 mm).

45. ADD ENGINE COOLANT

Before adding coolant, turn the A/C switch OFF.

Total capacity:
11.8 liters (12.5 US qts, 10.4 Imp. qts)

  1. Tighten the radiator drain cock plug and 2 cylinder block drain cock plugs.

  1. Add TOYOTA Super Long Life Coolant (SLLC) into the radiator reservoir.

    Capacity:
    Approximately 5.0 liters (5.3 US qts, 4.4 Imp. qts)

    УКАЗАНИЕ:
    1. TOYOTA vehicles are filled with TOYOTA SLLC at the factory. In order to avoid damage to the engine cooling system and other technical problems, only use TOYOTA SLLC or similar high quality ethylene glycol based non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrite, non-borate coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology (coolant with long-life hybrid organic acid technology consists of a combination of low phosphates and organic acids).
    2. Please contact any authorized Toyota dealer, or repairer or another duly qualified and equipped professional for further details.
    3. The thermostat open timing can be confirmed by pressing the inlet radiator hose by hand, and checking when the coolant starts to flow inside the hose.

    If the coolant level is low, add coolant.

  1. Bleed air from the cooling system.

    Before starting the engine to warm up the engine, turn the A/C switch OFF.


    1. While idling the engine for approximately 10 minutes, make sure the coolant remains at the FULL line by adding coolant as necessary.

    3. After idling the engine for 10 minutes, add coolant until it reaches the B line at the base of the reservoir's filler neck.

      Capacity:
      Approximately 2.5 to 3.5 liters (2.6 to 3.7 US qts, 2.2 to 3.1 Imp. qts)

      The B line is the lower edge of the inner wall of the filler neck.

    4. Close the radiator reservoir cap, and run the engine at 1500 to 2000 rpm for 5 minutes.

      The thermostat open timing can be confirmed by pressing the No. 1 radiator hose by hand, and checking when the SLLC starts to flow inside the hose.

      ПРЕДОСТЕРЕЖЕНИЕ:
      When pressing the radiator hose:
      1. Wear protective gloves.
      2. Be careful as the radiator hose is hot.
      3. Keep your hands away from the radiator fan.

  1. Stop the engine and wait until the coolant cools down to ambient temperature.

    ПРЕДОСТЕРЕЖЕНИЕ:
    Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.

46. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL


47. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

    Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.



48. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK
  1. Inspect for engine oil leak (see page Нажмите здесь).



49. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK

ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:
Before each inspection, turn the A/C switch OFF.

ПРЕДОСТЕРЕЖЕНИЕ:
Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.

  1. Fill the radiator with coolant and attach a radiator cap tester.

  1. Warm up the engine.

  1. Using the radiator cap tester, increase the pressure inside the radiator to 118 kPa (1.2 kgf/cm2, 17 psi), and check that the pressure does not drop.
    If the pressure drops, check the hoses, radiator and water pump for leaks. If no external leaks are found, check the heater core, cylinder block and head.



50. INSPECT FOR FUEL LEAK
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    ПРИМЕЧАНИЕ:
    Do not start the engine.

  1. Push the intelligent tester main switch ON.

  1. Select the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Control the Fuel Pump /Speed.

  1. Check the fuel pump operation.

    1. Check for pressure in the fuel inlet tube from the fuel line. Check that the sound of fuel flowing in the fuel tank can be heard.
      If no sound can be heard, check the integration relay, fuel pump, ECM and wiring connector.

  1. Check for fuel leaks.

    1. Check that there are no fuel leaks anywhere on the system after performing maintenance.
      If there is a fuel leak, repair or replace parts as necessary.



51. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
  1. If gas is leaking, tighten the areas necessary to stop the leak. Replace the damaged parts as necessary.



52. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL


53. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD


54. CHECK AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
  1. Check and adjust the front wheel alignment (see page Нажмите здесь).



55. CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION

59. CHECK IGNITION TIMING
  1. Warm up and stop the engine.

    A warmed up engine should have an engine coolant temperature of over 80°C (176°F) and an engine oil temperature of 60°C (140°F), and the engine rpm should be stabilized.

  1. When using the intelligent tester:

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine and idle it.

    3. Push the intelligent tester main switch ON.

    4. Enter the following items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Primary / IGN Advance /

      Standard ignition timing:
      8 to 18° BTDC @ idle

  1. When not using the intelligent tester:

    1. Remove the V-bank cover.

    2. Remove the 5 clips and air cleaner inlet cover.

    3. Remove the 4 clips and engine room side cover LH.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 air cleaner inlet.

    5. Disconnect the air cleaner cap. (for Bank 1)

    6. Remove the 2 nuts and air cleaner case. (for Bank 1)

    8. Connect the tester probe of a timing light to the wire of the ignition connector for No. 1 cylinder.

      Use a timing light that detects primary signals.

      8 to 12° BTDC @ idle

    13. Remove SST from the DLC3.

    14. Check the ignition timing.

      Standard ignition timing:
      8 to 18° BTDC @ idle

    15. Check that the ignition timing advances immediately when the engine speed is increased.

    16. Disconnect the timing light from the engine.

    17. Install the air cleaner case (for Bank 1) with the 2 nuts.

    18. Connect the air cleaner cap. (for Bank 1)

    19. Install the No. 1 air cleaner inlet with the 2 bolts.

    20. Install the engine room side cover LH with the 4 clips.

    21. Install the air cleaner inlet cover with the 5 clips.

    22. Install the V-bank cover.



60. CHECK IDLE SPEED
  1. Warm up and stop the engine.

  1. When using the intelligent tester:

      Switch off all accessories and the A/C before connecting the intelligent tester.

    2. Race the engine speed at 2,500 rpm for approximately 90 seconds.

    3. Push the intelligent tester main switch ON.

    4. Enter the following items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Primary / Engine Speed /

      Standard idle speed:
      700 to 800 rpm

    5. Disconnect the intelligent tester from the DLC3.

61. CHECK CO/HC

This check determines whether or not the idle CO / HC complies with regulations.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Keep the engine speed at 2,500 rpm for approximately 180 seconds.

  1. Insert the CO / HC meter testing probe at least 40 cm (1.3 ft) into the tailpipe during idling.

  1. Immediately check CO / HC concentration at idle and 2,500 rpm.

    УКАЗАНИЕ:
    1. When performing the 2 mode (2,500 rpm and idle) test, follow the measurement order prescribed by the applicable local regulations.
    2. If the CO / HC concentration does not comply with regulations, troubleshoot in the order given below.


    1. Check the A/F sensor and heated oxygen sensor operation.

    2. See the table below for possible causes, then inspect and correct the applicable causes if necessary.

62. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
  1. Warm up the engine, stop the engine and wait 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the dipstick's low level mark and full level mark.
    If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

    Do not fill engine oil above the full level mark.

  1. After sliding the cover from the vehicle front to the rear to attaching the 2 clips A, attach the 4 clips B and install the V bank cover.

67. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH

  1. Install the 6 clips and cowl top ventilator louver RH.

    If the cowl top ventilator louver RH is not properly installed, water may leak into the engine room and cause malfunctions. Therefore, make sure the cowl top ventilator louver RH is installed properly.
