Short to B+ in Front Passenger Side Squib 2nd Step Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The front passenger side squib (2nd step) circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and the front passenger airbag.

The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when the airbag deployment conditions are met.

DTC B1188/56 is recorded when a B+ short is detected in the front passenger side squib (2nd step) circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK DASH WIRE (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB (2ND STEP) CIRCUIT)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the front passenger airbag.

(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(f) Measure the voltage between the body ground and P2+ of the A28 dash wire connector on the front passenger airbag (front passenger side squib (2nd step)) side.

Standard voltage:

Below 1 V

CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.

(b) Using a service wire, connect P2+ and P2- of the A28 dash wire connector on the front passenger airbag (front passenger side squib (2nd step)) side.

(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.

(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(e) Clear the DTC stored in memory 2006 MY LX470 [05/2005 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

(f) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(g) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(h) Check the DTC 2006 MY LX470 [05/2005 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

OK:

DTC B1188/56 is not output.

REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SQUIB (2ND STEP)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.

(c) Connect the front passenger airbag (front passenger side squib (2nd step)) to the dash wire.

(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTC stored in memory 2006 MY LX470 [05/2005 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

(g) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(i) Check the DTC 2006 MY LX470 [05/2005 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

OK:

DTC B1188/56 is not output.
