REMOVAL

HINT:

  • Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  • The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

Torque:

131 N·m {1,340 kgf·cm, 97ft·lbf}

2. DISCONNECT BRAKE LINE

(a) Using SST, disconnect the brake line and remove the clip.

SST: 09023-00101

Torque:

15 N·m {150 kgf·cm, 11ft·lbf}

14 N·m {143 kgf·cm, 10ft·lbf} for use with SST

3. REMOVE REAR DISC

(a) Remove the 2 bolts, 2 washers, brake cylinder and disc.

Torque:

103 N·m {1,050 kgf·cm, 76ft·lbf}

4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove parking brake assembly 2006 MY LX470 [05/2005 -        ]; PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY .

5. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 4 nuts.

Torque:

123 N·m {1,250 kgf·cm, 91ft·lbf}

(b) Pull out the axle shaft assembly.

NOTICE:

Be careful not to damage the oil seal.

(c) Remove the O-ring from the bearing case.

6. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT OIL SEAL

(a) Using SST, tap out the oil seal.
