ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

HINT:

The magnetic clutch relay is built in the engine room junction block. Since the relay is constructed with a relay block that is in the junction block as a unit, it is impossible to disconnect the wire harness connecting with the relay block. If the relay has a malfunction, replace it together with the junction block assembly wire harness.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. DISCONNECT ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK

(a) Disconnect the relay block from the vehicle body.

3. CHECK ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK (MG CLT RELAY)

Standard resistance:

Condition

Tester Connection

Specified Condition

8 - 16

Below 1 Ω

Apply B+ between

terminals 8 and 16

16 - 26

Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the engine room relay block.

4. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK

5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

(a) Perform initialization 2006 MY LX470 [05/2005 -        ]; INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION .

NOTICE:

Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
