INSPECTION

CAUTION:

Replace the seat belt assembly (outer belt, inner belt, bolts, nuts or sill-bar) if it has been used in a severe impact. The entire assembly should be replaced even if damage is not obvious.

1. RUNNING TEST (IN SAFE AREA) (Except Manual type)

CAUTION:

Conduct this test in a safe area.

If the belt does not lock, remove the belt mechanism assembly and conduct the following static check.

HINT:

Also, when installing a new belt assembly, verify the proper operation before installation.

(a) Fasten the front seat belts.

(b) Drive the car at 16 km/h (10 mph) and firmly depress the brakes. Check that the belt is locked and cannot be pulled out at this time.

2. INSPECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH (ELR) (for Driver Side)

(a) Make sure that the belt locks when pulled out quickly.

(b) Remove the locking retractor assembly.

HINT:

Before removing the pretensioner connector, be sure to read the precautionary notice in the SRS section.

(c) Tilt the retractor slowly.

(d) Make sure that the belt can be pulled out when tilted 15° or less, and cannot be pulled out when tilted over 45°.

If a problem is found, replace the assembly.

3. INSPECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (ELR / ALR)

(a) Make sure that the belt locks when pulled out quickly.

(b) Remove the locking retractor assembly.

HINT:

Before removing the pretensioner connector, be sure to read the precautionary notice in the SRS section.

(c) Pull out the whole belt and measure the length of the whole belt.

(d) Retract the belt slightly and pull it out again, and make sure that the belt cannot be pulled out further.

If any problem is found, replace the assembly.

(e) Retract the whole belt, then pull out the belt until 200 mm (7.87 in.) of the belt is remaining in the retractor.

(f) Tilt the retractor slowly.

(g) Make sure that the belt can be pulled out at when tilted 15° or less, and cannot be pulled out when tilted over 45°.

If any problem is found, replace the assembly.
