REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Be sure to read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing 2006 MY LX470 [05/2005 - 01/2006]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION .

1. REMOVE CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. DISCONNECT AIRBAG CONNECTOR

(a) Remove the glove compartment door.

(b) Remove the No. 1 under cover from the instrument panel finish panel LH lower.

NOTICE:

When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(c) Slide the airbag connector to pull out from the No. 1 under cover.

(d) Disconnect the front passenger airbag connector.

3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

4. REMOVE CENTER BRACKET

5. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY

6. REMOVE NO. 5 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT

7. REMOVE NO. 2 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT

8. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 3 nuts, then remove the front passenger airbag assembly.

CAUTION:

  • Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag deployment side facing downward.
  • Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
