DESCRIPTION
The ECM monitors the output voltage to the throttle actuator. This self-check ensures that the ECM is functioning properly. The output voltage usually is 0 V when the ignition switch is turned OFF. If the output voltage is higher than 7 V when the ignition switch is turned OFF, the ECM will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC when the ignition switch is turned ON.

CHECK DTC |
(a) Connect the intelligent tester to the CAN VIM. Then connect the CAN VIM to the DLC3.
(b)
Clear DTC

(c) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(d) Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 minute.
(e) Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal.
(f) Turn the ignition switch ON for 10 seconds.
(g) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(h) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(i) Check DTC.
OK:
P0657 is not present.
