INSPECTION

1. INSPECT KEY INTER LOCK SOLENOID

(a) Measure the resistance of the solenoid.

Standard resistance:

Tester Connection

Specified Condition

5 (SLS+) - 4 (SLS-)

20 to 27 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the solenoid.

(b) Apply positive (+) battery voltage between the terminals. Check that sounds are emitted from the operating solenoid.

If sounds are not emitted, replace the solenoid.

HINT:

If sounds are not emitted from the solenoid, the solenoid is not operating.

2. INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL SWITCH

(a) Measure the resistance of the switch.

Standard resistance:

Tester Connection

Shift Lever Position

Specified Condition

3 (P1) - 2 (P)

P (shift lock release button is not pushed

Below 1 Ω

3 (P1) - 2 (P)

P (shift lock release button is pushed

Below 1 Ω

1 (P2) - 2 (P)

R, N, D, 2, L

Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

3. INSPECT KEY INTERLOCK SOLENOID

(a) Measure the resistance of the solenoid.

Standard resistance:

Tester Connection

Specified Condition

1 (KLS-) - 2 (KLS+)

12 to 17 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the key interlock solenoid.

(b) Connect the battery's positive (+) terminal to terminal 2 (KLS+) and the battery's negative (-) terminal to terminal 1 (KLS-). Check that sounds are emitted from the operating solenoid.

If sounds are not emitted, replace the solenoid.

HINT:

If sounds are not emitted from the solenoid, the solenoid is not operating.
