Short to B+ in Curtain Shield Squib LH Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The curtain shield squib LH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and the curtain shield airbag LH.

The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.

DTC B1168/86 is recorded when a B+ short is detected in the curtain shield squib LH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK NO. 1 FLOOR WIRE (CURTAIN SHIELD FLOOR NO. 1 WIRE)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the curtain shield airbag LH.

(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(f) Measure the voltage between the body ground and ICL+ of the C37 No. 1 floor wire connector on the curtain shield airbag LH (curtain shield squib LH) side.

Standard voltage:

REPAIR OR REPLACE NO. 1 FLOOR WIRE

CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.

(c) Connect the connector to the center airbag sensor.

(d) Using a service wire, connect ICL+ and ICL- of the C37 No. 1 floor wire connector on the curtain shield airbag LH (curtain shield squib LH) side.

(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.

(f) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(g) Clear the DTC stored in memory 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

(h) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(i) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(j) Check the DTC 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

OK:

DTC B1168/86 is not output.

CHECK CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB LH

(a) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait at least for 90 seconds.

(c) Connect the curtain shield airbag LH (curtain shield squib LH) connector.

(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait at least for 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTC stored in memory 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

(g) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait at least for 10 seconds.

(i) Check the DTC 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

OK:

DTC B1168/86 is not output.
