DTC

B1180/17

Short in Driver Side Squib 2nd Step Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The driver side squib (2nd step) circuit consists of the center airbag senor, the spiral cable and the steering wheel pad.

The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.

DTC B1180/17 is recorded when a short is detected in the driver side squib (2nd step) circuit.

DTC No.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK CONNECTOR

(a) Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect the connectors from the steering wheel pad.

(d) Check that the black spiral cable connector is not damaged.

OK:

The lock button is not disengaged, or the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged.

REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE

OK

2.

CHECK DRIVER SIDE SQUIB (2ND STEP) CIRCUIT

(a) Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor.

(b) Release the airbag activation prevention mechanism built in the connector on the center airbag senor side between the airbag sensor assembly and the steering wheel pad (driver side squib (2nd step)) 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 -        ]; SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .

(c) Measure the resistance between D2+ and D2- of the black connector on the steering wheel pad (driver side squib (2nd step)) side between the center airbag senor and the steering wheel pad (driver side squib (2nd step)).

Standard resistance:

1 MΩ or higher
