Title:
2UZ-FE EMISSION CONTROL: AIR PUMP: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION; 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 - ]
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. CHECK PRESSURE SENSOR
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(b) Measure the voltage between terminals AIP and E2 of the ECM connector.
Standard voltage:
1.0 to 2.2 V
If the voltage is not as specified, inspect the ECM or harness
.
2. CHECK VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (for Air Injection System)
(a) Disconnect the VSV connector.
(b) Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the VSV.
(c) Measure the resistance between the terminals.
Standard resistance:
Tester Connection
Specified Condition
1 - 2
33 to 39 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
1 - Body ground
1 MΩ or higher
2 - Body ground
1 MΩ or higher
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the VSV.
(d) Apply air to the port as shown in the illustration.
(e) Check that air does not flow from port A.
If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV.
(f) Apply positive battery voltage to the terminals, apply air to the port, and check that air flows from the port shown in the illustration.
If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV.
(g) Connect the 2 vacuum hoses to the VSV.
NOTICE:
Be sure to connect the vacuum hoses correctly.
(h) Connect the VSV connector.
(i) Perform the "Check Vacuum Switching Valve" procedures above on the other VSV.
3. CHECK NO. 2 AIR SWITCHING VALVE
(a) Disconnect the vacuum hose from the VSV for the air injection system.
(b)
Apply vacuum of 30 kPa (306 gf/cm
2
, 4.35 psi) to vacuum hose, and check that the vacuum does not decrease.
If operation is not as specified, replace the No. 2 air switching valve.
(c) Release the vacuum, and check that the operation sound is emitted from the No. 2 air switching valve.
If operation is not as specified, replace the No. 2 air switching valve.
(d) Perform the "Check No. 2 Air Switching Valve" procedures above on the other No. 2 air switching valve.
