Title:
2UZ-FE FUEL: FUEL INJECTOR: INSPECTION; 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 - ]
|
INSPECTION
1.
DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
2. INSPECT INJECTION VOLUME
CAUTION:
-
This test involves high-pressure fuel and electricity.
-
Take every precaution regarding safe handling of both the fuel and the electrical parts.
-
Perform this test in a safe area, and avoid any sparks or flame.
-
Do not smoke.
|
(a) Disconnect the fuel inlet hose (fuel tube connector) from the fuel filter.
CAUTION:
-
Perform disconnecting operations of the fuel tube connector (quick type B) after reading the precautions
.
-
Prevent the pressure remaining in the fuel line from causing fuel to splash inside the engine compartment.
|
|
|
(b) Use a new fuel main hose and take out the fuel tube connector from its hose.
Fuel tube connector:
Part No. 23271-50180
|
|
(c) Connect SST (hose) and fuel tube connector to the fuel filter outlet.
SST: 09268-41047
CAUTION:
Perform connecting operations of the fuel tube connector (quick type B) after reading the precautions
.
HINT:
Use the vehicle's fuel filter.
(d)
Remove the pressure regulator form the delivery pipe
.
(e) Install the O-ring to the fuel inlet of the pressure regulator.
|
(f) Connect SST (hose) to the fuel inlet of the pressure regulator with SST (union) and the 2 bolts.
SST: 09268-41047
09268-41091
Torque:
7.5 N·m {77 kgf·cm, 66in·lbf}
|
|
(g) Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel outlet of the pressure regulator.
|
(h) Install the O-ring to the injector.
|
|
(i) Connect SST (adaptor and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with SST (clamp).
SST: 09268-41047
09268-41110
09268-41300
(j) Put the injector into the graduated cylinder.
CAUTION:
Install a suitable vinyl tube onto the injector to contain the gasoline spray.
|
(k) Operate the fuel pump.
(1) Connect the intelligent tester to the Controller Area Network Vehicle Interface Module (CAN VIM). Then connect the CAN VIM to the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3).
(2) Turn the ignition switch ON.
NOTICE:
Do not start the engine.
(3) Push the intelligent tester main switch ON.
(4) Select Active Test and enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / FUEL PUMP / SPD.
|
|
|
(l) Connect SST (wire) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with a graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.
SST: 09842-30070
Injection volume:
56 to 59 cm
3
(3.4 to 4.2 cu. in.) in 15 seconds
Difference between each injector:
15 cm
3
(0.9 cu. in.) or less
If the result is not as specified, replace the injector.
|
|
3. INSPECT FUEL LEAK
|
(a) Disconnect the test probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check the fuel leakage from the injector.
SST: 09842-30070
Fuel drop:
1 drop or less per 12 minutes
|
|
(b) Turn the ignition switch OFF.
(c) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
(d) Remove SST and fuel tube connector.
SST: 09842-30070
SST: 09268-41047
(e) Disconnect the intelligent tester from the DLC3.
(f) Reconnect the fuel inlet pipe (fuel tube connector) to the fuel filter.
CAUTION:
Perform connecting operations of the fuel tube connector (quick type B) after reading the precautions
.
