1. CHECK REAR AXLE SHAFT BEARING
(a) Remove the rear wheel.
(b)
Remove the rear disc brake cylinder
.
(c) Remove the rear disc.
(d) Inspect the axle shaft backlash.
(1) Using a dial indicator, measure the backlash near the center of the axle shaft.
Maximum backlash:
0.06 mm (0.0024 in.)
If the backlash is greater than the maximum, replace the bearing.
(e) Inspect the axle shaft deviation.
(1) Using a dial indicator, measure the deviation at the surface of the axle shaft.
Maximum deviation:
0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)
If the deviation is greater than the maximum, replace the bearing.
