Tilt Motor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The ECU provides both +B and ground for the tilt motor.

Reversing polarity of the applied voltage reverses the motor.

PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER

(a) Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and push the intelligent tester main switch ON.

(c) Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the intelligent tester.

(d) Check that the steering wheel tilts up (down) and confirm that the tilt position value changes when the ACTIVE TEST is carried out.

OK:

Steering wheel must be moved upward (downward).

Tilt position value must be changed.

PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

CHECK TILT MOTOR

(a) Disconnect the T10 tilt motor connector and T5 telescopic motor connector.

(b) Remove the tilt motor.

(c) Connect the telescopic motor connector to the tilt motor. Then confirm that tilt motor moves when operating the manual switch.
