Night View Display Cover does not Open with Night View Switch and Night View Indicator Light Turns on Only Momentarily

DESCRIPTION

The lighting system and the display cover limit switches need to operate normally for the night view system to function.

The display cover assembly of the night view display has a limit switch built-in, which detects its open-close condition.

NOTICE:

Do not apply grease to the sliding parts of the display cover.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK HEADLIGHT FUNCTION

(a) Turn the headlight ON.

(b) Verify that all headlight functions are normal.

OK:

Headlight function is correct.

NG

GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM

OK

2.

CHECK NIGHT VIEW DISPLAY (MS1, MS2 VOLTAGE)

(a) Remove the combination meter assembly.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(c) Measure the voltage between terminals MS1 (close limit signal of display cover) and MS2 (open limit signal of display cover) of the night view display connector "J" and body ground.

Standard voltage:

Below 1 V (both limit signals ON)

INSPECT DISPLAY COVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connector "J".

(b) Measure the resistance between terminals MD1 (power source of display cover motor) and MD2 (power source of display cover motor) of the night view display connector "J".

Standard resistance:

20 to 60 Ω

REPLACE DISPLAY COVER ASSEMBLY

INSPECT DISPLAY COVER ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the connector "J".

(b) Measure the resistance between terminal MD1 (power source of display cover motor) of the night view display connector "J" and body ground.

Standard resistance:

10 kΩ or higher

(a) Reconnect the connector "J".

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(c) Switch to inspection mode 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 -        ]; PARK ASSIST / MONITORING: NIGHT VIEW SYSTEM: OPERATION CHECK .

(d) Measure the voltage between terminal MD1 (power source of display cover motor) of the night view display connector "J" and body ground.

(a) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(b) Switch to inspection mode 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 -        ]; PARK ASSIST / MONITORING: NIGHT VIEW SYSTEM: OPERATION CHECK .

(c) Measure the voltage between terminal MD1 (power source of display cover motor) of the night view ECU connector "C" and body ground.

Standard voltage:

Above 9 V
