Check the VGRS thermistor temperature using the intelligent tester.

PROCEDURE

1.

READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER
|
(a) Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Display the VGRS DATA LIST.
(d) Is the thermistor temperature below -40°C (-40°F) or above 130°C (266°F)?.

REPLACE VGRS ECU

2.

WHEN VEHICLE STOPPED, PERFORM STEERING OPERATION FROM LOCK TO LOCK 10 TIMES
|
(a) Did the thermistor temperature change by less than 3°C (37°F)?
| NO |

REPLACE VGRS ECU

| YES |

THIS IS NOT MALFUNCTION, BECAUSE C1533/33 MAY BE SET BY SUDDEN CHANGE IN THERMISTOR TEMPERATURE DUE TO EXTREME VGRS OPERATION

CHECK THERMISTOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR *
|
(a) Record and clear the VGRS DTCs.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) With the vehicle stopped, perform steering operation from lock to lock about 15 times.
(d) After steering operation, leave the vehicle for about 10 minutes with the engine running.
(e) After leaving the vehicle for 10 minutes, perform steering from lock to lock 15 time again.
(f) Leave the vehicle for 1 minute with the engine running.
(g) Check that DTC C1533/33 reappears.
