Stop Light Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the brake pedal is depressed, the stop light switch comes on and battery positive voltage is applied to terminal STP of the ECU. This signal is used by the ECU as one of the starting conditions for anti-dive control.

CHECK OPERATION OF STOP LIGHT

(a) Check that the stop light comes on when the brake pedal is depressed and turns off when the brake pedal is released 2007 MY LX470 [08/2006 -        ]; LIGHTING: STOP LIGHT SWITCH: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .

READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (STOP LIGHT SWITCH)*1

(a) Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and push the intelligent tester main switch ON.

(c) Select the DATA LIST mode on the intelligent tester.

(d) Check the stop light switch condition displayed on the intelligent tester when depressing and releasing the brake pedal.

OK:

When the brake pedal is depressed: ON is displayed for the stop light switch condition.

When the brake pedal is released: OFF is displayed for the stop light switch condition.

CHECK SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU*2

(a) Remove the suspension control ECU with connectors still connected.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(c) Measure the voltage between terminal STP of the S6 suspension control ECU connector and body ground when brake pedal is released and depressed.
