Airbag Signal Communication Error

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when one of the following occurs: 1) the mayday ECU assembly is malfunctioning; 2) the center airbag sensor assembly is malfunctioning; or 3) the communication line is open or short.

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK FOR DTC (BLINKING PATTERN)

(a) Turn the ignition switch from ON to OFF.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and wait 10 seconds.

(c) Check for the DTC again and wait for 20 seconds.

OK:

DTC 5-2 is not output.

CHECK SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM

(a) Check for DTC using the intelligent tester.

CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MAYDAY ECU ASSEMBLY - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal and wait 90 seconds.

(b) Disconnect the M14 ECU connector.

(c) Disconnect the C32 airbag connector.

(d) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:

Tester Connection

M14-16 (GSW) - C32-18 (GSW3)

Below 1 Ω

M14-16 (GSW) or C32-18 (GSW3) - Body ground

10 kΩ or higher

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR THEN CLEAR HISTORIC DTC

OK

REPLACE MAYDAY ECU ASSEMBLY TOGETHER WITH MAYDAY BATTERY AND THEN PERFORM REGISTRATION
