INSPECTION

1. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH



(a) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.

OK:

Measurement Condition

Specified Condition

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 5 (MV)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 6 (M+)

Turns upward (A)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 5 (MV)

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 6 (M+)

Turns downward (B)

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 7 (MH)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 6 (M+)

Turns left (C)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 7 (MH)

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 6 (M+)

Turns right (D)

If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.


(b) For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror movement.

Moves from (D) to retracted position (E)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 15 (MR)

Moves from (E) to driving position (C)

NOTICE:

  • Disconnect and reconnect the battery between each mirror position check.
  • Do not apply battery voltage when moving the mirror by hand into each mirror position.

If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.


(c) Check the mirror heater.

(1) Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

Tester Connection

Terminal 4 (HTR+) - Terminal 13 (HTR-)

25°C (75°F)

3.0 to 3.9 Ω

If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

(2) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror heater.

OK:

Measurement Condition

Specified Condition

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4 (HTR+)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 13 (HTR-)

Mirror becomes warm

HINT:

It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.


(d) Check the EC mirror operation.

(1) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror face, as shown in the table and illustration.

OK:

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3 (ECM+)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (ECM-)

Mirror surface becomes dark

If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.

2. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH



(a) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.

OK:

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 5 (MV)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 6 (M+)

Turns upward (A)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 5 (MV)

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 6 (M+)

Turns downward (B)

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 7 (MH)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 6 (M+)

Turns left (C)

Battery negative (-) → Terminal 7 (MH)

Battery positive (+) → Terminal 6 (M+)

Turns right (D)

If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.


(b) For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror movement.

OK:

NOTICE:

(c) Check the mirror heater.

Mirror becomes warm

HINT:

It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.


(d) Check the EC mirror operation.
