GENERAL MAINTENANCE

1. INSPECT BRAKE SHOE LININGS AND DRUMS, PADS AND DISCS

(a) Check the brake pads and discs.

(1) Inspect the front brake pads and discs BRAKE (FRONT): FRONT BRAKE: INSPECTION (2008 LX570) .

(2) Inspect the rear brake pads and discs BRAKE (REAR): REAR BRAKE: INSPECTION (2008 LX570) .

(b) Check the parking brake shoe linings and drums.

(1) Inspect the parking brake shoe linings PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: INSPECTION (2008 LX570) .

2. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID BRAKE SYSTEM (OTHER): BRAKE FLUID: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION (2008 LX570)+

3. REPLACE BRAKE FLUID

(a) Replace the brake fluid BRAKE SYSTEM (OTHER): BRAKE FLUID: REPLACEMENT (2008 LX570) .

4. INSPECT BRAKE LINES AND HOSES

HINT:

Work in a well-lighted area.

(a) Using a mirror, check the entire circumference and length of the brake lines and hoses for:

  • Damage
  • Wear
  • Deformation
  • Cracks
  • Corrosion
  • Leaks
  • Bends
  • Twists

(b) Check all the clamps for tightness and the connections for leakage.

(c) Check that the hoses and lines are not near sharp edges, moving parts or the exhaust system.

(d) Check that the lines are installed properly and pass through the center of the grommets.
