1. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and nuts to the shock absorber.

    Torque:
    180 N*m{ 1,840 kgf*cm , 133 ft.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    1. Be careful not to damage the outboard joint boot.
    2. Be careful not to damage the speed sensor rotor.
    3. Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor rotor.

    HINT:
    Insert the bolt from the rear side of the vehicle and tighten the bolt.



2. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY NO.2

  1. Temporarily tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 with the bolt and nut.

    HINT:
    Insert the bolt from the rear side of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.



3. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY NO.1

  1. Temporarily tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.1 with the bolt and nut.

    HINT:
    Insert the bolt from the front side of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.



4. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY

  1. Temporarily tighten the strut rod assembly rear with the bolt and nut.

    HINT:
    Insert the bolt from the inside of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.

  1. Temporarily tighten the strut rod assembly rear with the bolt and nut.

    HINT:
    Insert the bolt from the inside of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.



5. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the hub and bearing assembly with the 4 bolts.

    Torque:
    75 N*m{ 765 kgf*cm , 55 ft.*lbf }



6. INSTALL REAR DISC

  1. Aligning the matchmarks, install the rear disc.

    HINT:
    When replacing the rear disc with a new one, select the installation position where the rear disc has the minimum runout.



7. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts to the rear axle carrier.

    Torque:
    78 N*m{ 795 kgf*cm , 58 ft.*lbf }



8. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR

  1. Install the speed sensor with the bolt.

    Torque:
    8.0 N*m{ 82 kgf*cm , 71 in.*lbf }

    NOTICE:
    1. Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
    2. Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.
    3. Do not twist the sensor wire when installing the sensor.



9. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT
  1. Using a socket wrench (30 mm), install a new rear axle shaft nut.

    Torque:
    294 N*m{ 3,000 kgf*cm , 217 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    1. Stake the nut after inspecting for looseness and runout in the following steps.
    2. While applying the brakes, install the rear axle shaft nut.



10. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  1. Jack up the rear axle carrier, placing a wooden block to avoid damage. Apply load to the suspension so that the rear drive shaft assembly is horizontally positioned.



11. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY NO.2

  1. Fully tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 with the bolt and nut.

    Torque:
    112 N*m{ 1,140 kgf*cm , 83 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    While holding the nut, turn the bolt.



12. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY NO.1

  1. Fully tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.1 with the bolt and nut.

    Torque:
    112 N*m{ 1,140 kgf*cm , 83 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    While holding the nut, turn the bolt.



13. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY

  1. Fully tighten the rear strut rod assembly (rear axle carrier side) with the bolt and nut.

    Torque:
    80 N*m{ 816 kgf*cm , 59 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    While holding the nut, turn the bolt.

  1. Fully tighten the rear strut rod assembly (vehicle side) with the bolt and nut.

    Torque:
    80 N*m{ 816 kgf*cm , 59 ft.*lbf }

    HINT:
    While holding the nut, turn the bolt.



14. CONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.3

  1. Install the parking brake cable assembly No.3 with the nut.

    Torque:
    6.0 N*m{ 61 kgf*cm , 53 in.*lbf }



15. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 2 bolts, and separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly.

    NOTICE:
    Use a wire or an equivalent to keep the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.



16. REMOVE REAR DISC

  1. Put matchmarks on the rear disc and the axle hub.

  1. Release the parking brake, and remove the rear disc.

    HINT:
    If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn and press firmly the shoe adjuster until the wheel comes free.



17. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS

  1. Using a dial indicator, check for looseness near the center of the axle hub.

    Maximum:
    0.05 mm (0.0020 in.)

    NOTICE:
    Ensure that the dial indicator is set at right angles to the measurement surface.

    If looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub assembly.



18. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT

  1. Using a dial indicator, check for runout on surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.

    Maximum:
    0.07 mm (0.0028 in.)

    NOTICE:
    Ensure that the dial indicator is set at right angles to the measurement surface.

    If runout exceeds the maximum, replace the axle hub assembly.



19. INSTALL REAR DISC

  1. Aligning the matchmarks, install the rear disc.

    HINT:
    When replacing the rear disc with a new one, select the installation position where the rear disc has the minimum runout.



20. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the rear disc brake caliper assembly with the 2 bolts to the rear axle carrier.

    Torque:
    78 N*m{ 795 kgf*cm , 58 ft.*lbf }



21. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT

  1. Using a chisel and a hammer, stake the axle shaft nut.



22. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque:
103 N*m{ 1,050 kgf*cm , 76 ft.*lbf }



23. ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

24. CHECK SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
