1. FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

  1. Inspect injector resistance.

      A030449E01
    1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

      Standard resistance:
      13.4 to 14.2 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the injector.

  1. Inspect the injection volume.

    CAUTION:
This test involves high-pressure fuel and electricity. Take all precautions regarding safe handling of both the fuel and the electricity. Perform this test in a safe area, and avoid any sparks or flames. Do not smoke.

    6. Put the injector into a graduated cylinder.

      CAUTION:
Install a strong rubber tube onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing.

    7. Operate the fuel pump (turn the ignition switch to the ON position).

    8. Connect SST (wire) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

      SST

      Injection volume:
      Injection volume
Injection volume difference between each injector
      60 to 73 cm3 (3.7 to 4.5 cu in.) per 15 seconds
      13 cm3 (0.8 cu in.) or less

If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.

  1. Check for leakage.

      B000069
    1. In the conditions above, disconnect the tester probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check for fuel leakage from the injector.

      Fuel drop:
1 drop or less in 12 minutes
