INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
  1. When troubleshooting the oil pump w/ motor assembly, check for the following conditions:
    1. ATF temperature inside the oil cooler is 5°C (41 °F) or more.
    2. Value of the ambient temperature sensor is 5°C (41 °F) or more.

1.INSPECT OIL PUMP RELAY

  1. Remove the oil pump relay from the engine room R/B No.4.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    1 - 2
    Below 1 Ω
    3 - 5
    10 kΩ or higher
    Below 1 Ω
    (Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 and 2)

REPLACE OIL PUMP RELAY

2.REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - OIL PUMP RELAY)

  1. Remove the OIL PUMP relay from the engine room R/B No.4.

  1. Disconnect the H31 HV control ECU connector.

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Voltage:
    Tester Connection
    Specified Value
    OPM2 (H31-5)-Engine room R/B No.4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 2
    Below 1 V

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance (Check for open):
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    OPM2 (H31-5)-Engine room R/B No.4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 2
    Below 1 Ω

    Standard Resistance (Check for short):
    Tester Connection
    Specified Condition
    OPM2 (H31-5) or Engine room R/B No.4 OIL PUMP relay terminal 2 - Body ground
    10 kΩ or higher

3.INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection

    OPM2 (H31-5) - +B1 (H31-2) and +B1 (H31-1)
    10 kΩ or higher

4.REPRODUCTION TEST
  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

  1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control /Active Test / Inspection Mode.

  1. Put the vehicle into the READY-on state and turn on the oil pump relay (activate the oil pump w/ motor assembly).

  1. Exit Inspection Mode and turn the ignition switch off.

  1. Repeat the above four steps to turn the oil pump relay on and off.

    Result:
    The symptom is reproduced. (DTC P2601-780 is output.)
