Exhaust Manifold
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
2.5L Engine
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cable
Subframe transverse section
Heated Oxygen (HO2S) sensor connectors
Exhaust front pipe
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) pipe
Exhaust manifolds
To install:
Fig. 1: Right exhaust manifold torque sequence–2.5L engine
Fig. 2: Left exhaust manifold torque sequence–2.5L engine
Install or connect the following:
Exhaust manifolds. Tighten the nuts in sequence to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
EGR pipe
Exhaust front pipe
HO2S sensor connectors
Subframe transverse section. Tighten the bolts to 69–96 ft. lbs. (94–131 Nm).
Negative battery cable
Start the engine and check for leaks.
3.0L Engine
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Negative battery cable
Engine under cover
Heated Oxygen (HO2S) sensor connectors
Exhaust front pipe
Exhaust manifold heat shields
Cross over pipe
Exhaust manifolds
To install:
NOTE: Use new fasteners and gaskets for assembly.
Install or connect the following:
Exhaust manifolds. Tighten the fasteners to 16–20 ft. lbs. (22–28 Nm).
Cross over pipe. Tighten the bolts to 12–16 ft. lbs. (16–22 Nm).
Exhaust manifold heat shields. Tighten the bolts to 14–18 ft. lbs. (19–25 Nm).
Exhaust front pipe. Tighten the nuts to 28–38 ft. lbs. (38–51 Nm).
HO2S sensor connectors
Engine under cover
Negative battery cable
Start the engine and check for leaks.
