Knock Sensor (KS)

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. If necessary, safely raise and support the vehicle.
3. If necessary, remove the intake manifold.
4. Disconnect the knock sensor (KS) electrical connector.
5. Remove the bolt and the KS, then throw away the KS.

To Install:

1. Install a new KS and bolt. Torque to 15 ft-lb (20 Nm).

   NOTE: The KS is designed to only be used once, so if it is serviced you must install a new KS.

2. Connect the KS electrical connector.
3. If necessary, install the intake manifold.
4. If necessary, safely lower the vehicle.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
