Condenser Core

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

CAUTION
Refrigerant oil (Motorcraft YN-12c) should be used ONLY to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals. Only PAG refrigerant compressor oil (F7AZ-19589-DA or Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent meeting the manufacturer’s specification should be used as an A/C compressor lubricant.

NOTE: If you suspect there may be a leak in the condenser core, it must be leak-tested before it is removed from the vehicle.

NOTE:  It is not required to install a new suction accumulator when repairing the air conditioning system, except when there are signs of system contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube and the engine air cleaner.
  2. Recover the refrigerant.
  3. Disconnect the condenser to evaporator tube from the A/C condenser core.
  4. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the A/C condenser core.

  7. Remove the condenser core mounting screws and remove the A/C condenser core.

To Install:

  1. Install the A/C condenser core and the condenser core mounting screws. Tighten to 91-122 in-lb (10.2-13.8 Nm).
  2. Place the top seal and install the push pins.
  3. Tilt the radiator forward and install the radiator mounting screws. Tighten to 53-71 in-lb (6-8 Nm).
