Heater Core

Removal & Installation

To Remove:

NOTE: If you suspect a leak in the heater core, it must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.

1. Remove the evaporator core housing and the instrument panel.
2. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM), the ground strap screw, and the PCM heat sink.
3. Remove the nuts from the engine side of the dash panel. Position the plenum chamber on the vehicle floor.
4. Remove the screws and heater core cover.
5. Remove the heater core.

To Install:

NOTE: In the installation procedure, install a new foam oval seal around the heater core outlet and inlet tubes.

1. Install the heater core.
2. Install the heater core cover and screws.
3. Correctly position the plenum chamber then install the nuts onto the engine side of the dash panel.
   • Torque to 35 in-lb (4 Nm).
4. Install the PCM heat sink, the ground strap screw, and the powertrain control module.
5. Install the instrument panel and the evaporator core housing.
