NOTE: To avoid confusion, always replace spark plugs one at
a time.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- If equipped, remove the center cover.
- Remove the spark plug cable from the spark plug by holding the wire on the
cap and twisting slightly while pulling the wire straight out.
- With the cable removed from the spark plug, unfasten the wire from the retainers.
Note the exact position of the wires to assure they are installed in the same
position during installation.
- Remove the cable end from the ignition coil or distributor cap, as applicable.
To install:
- Install the cable over the spark plug and push until securely seated.
- Install the cables securely in the retainers in the same position as removed.
Make sure the cables are securely installed to avoid possible contact with
metal parts. Install the cables neatly, ensuring that they are not too tight,
loose, twisted or kinked.
- Install the cable end onto terminal of the ignition coil or distributor
cap, as equipped.
- Repeat this procedure on the remaining spark plug cables until all have
been replaced.
- If equipped, install the center cover and tighten the fasteners to 2.5 ft.
lbs. (3.5 Nm).
- Connect the negative battery cable.
