CLEANING

  1. Warm the engine to operating temperature and then turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the air intake hose from the throttle body.
  3. Plug the by-pass inlet in the throttle body.
  4. Spray cleaning solvent into the valve through the throttle body intake port and let is stand for approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Start the engine and race it several times. Allow the engine to idle for about 1 minute. If the idling speed becomes unstable or if the engine stalls, slightly open the throttle valve to keep the engine running.
  6. If the deposits on the throttle valve are not removed, repeat Steps 4 and 5.
  7. Unplug the bypass passage inlet. Attach the air intake hose.
  8. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 10 seconds or more and then reconnect it.
  9. Adjust the basic idle speed, if required.

NOTE: If the engine hunts (surges) at idle after the basic idle speed has been adjusted, disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery for at least 10 seconds and then, restart the engine and allow to idle.
